Barbara Nell Moore was born October 8, 1950, to Jack and Juanita Moore of Louisville, KY. She attended Bashford Manor Elementary and was a graduate of Seneca High School. She attended both Western Kentucky and Spaulding Universities. While at Western Kentucky University, she was given the nickname of “Mother Rap”. She was a member of The Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated. Her entrepreneurship awarded her to become the owner/ operator of Moore Trucking Company.
Growing up, she was a member of Guiding Star Baptist Church where she was baptized and sang in the choir. Later she moved her membership to 1st Philadelphia Independent Ministries where she was over the culinary and garden ministries. If you knew her, you knew she loved the Lord and would tell everyone about His word.
In her youth, she liked to skate. She skated at the Louisville Amory from the age of 6-16. She would also sneak and play football out in the front yard when she was supposed to be in the house helping to cook and clean. She played flag football with the girls in high school. She loved to travel to visit family and friends whenever she was able.
In her free time, she enjoyed cooking and barbequing. She was also known for her gumbo. Her cars were her earthly prize possessions- a 1978 Pontiac Grand Prix, a 1970 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia, and a 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix.
As many of you knew once she got you on the phone it was hard to get her off. When she talked, she was very descriptive and would research the things she did not know much about and would come back later and tell you all about it. She was a natural leader and took after her mother. Her calling from God was the ability to conversate with any individual.
Barbara was admitted into the hospital on May 4th. While in the hospital she was still talking and joking with people. Barbara went home to be with the Lord early on Thursday, May 23, 2024.
Barbara had a real love for her family and left to cherish her memory are her siblings: Sharon (Moore) Fowler, Jack Moore, Jr. and Charles Moore. Her Sister-in-laws: Sandy and Kim. Also left are a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and lots of other family and friends.
