Elbert Majors

Visitation for Marine and Elbert Majors Thursday, November 17, 2022, 11::30am - 12:30 pm at Community Missionary Baptist Church 4909 E. Indian Trail. Funeral to follow at 12:30pm. Burial Evergreen Cemetery.

Marine Macklin Majors was born on March 29,1932, in Pulaski, Tennessee, to the late Leroy Macklin and Fannie Mobley Macklin. She was educated there and attended Bishforth High School. Marine continued to live in her hometown for awhile before moving to Louisville, Kentucky. Fortunately, for her, that choice was a good one because she met and married the love of her life---Elbert Majors on June 10, 1951. They were blessed to become the parents of three children, Etta, Alonzo, and a baby girl that God called home at birth.

For sixty-two years, she was a faithful member of Community Missionary Baptist Church until her health began to fail her. However, that didn’t stop her from serving the Lord. Marine read her Bible regularly, and when her eyes started failing her, she bought a machine that read the bible to her. By listening to gospel programs on TV and tapes she bought from the church, she had her own worship service. Whenever Marine talked about the Lord, she became filled with the Holy spirit.

Oh, how she loved fixing thanksgiving dinner for her family! No one had to bring anything. All her family and guests had to do was just show up! Besides being an outstanding cook, Marine also could have been a home interior decorator. She could take an average-looking room and make it look like one found in the magazine, Better Homes and Garden.

Marine Macklin Majors was preceded in death by: her parents and four brothers, Albert Macklin, Leroy Macklin, William Macklin and Abraham Macklin and grandson Damon Martin.. Marine departed this life on November 4, 2022, while being surrounded by her loving family. Left behind to cherish their most precious memories of her are: husband, Elbert Majors; daughter, Etta Smith (Darryl); son, Alonzo Majors (Ariella); brother, Lee Macklin (Stacey); and a host of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
