Howard Lee Richardson, Sr. passed on July 29, 2022. Visitation Wednesday August 3, 2022 from 11 AM - 1 PM with funeral to follow at 1 PM. Both at W.T. Shumake and Daughters Funeral Home, 3815 Newburg Rd.

Howard Lee Richardson, Sr. was born November 15, 1959 in PeeWee Valley, Kentucky, to proud parents Robert and Lue Jane Richardson. He was the middle child of five boys, Richard, Ronald, Phillip and Douglas.

As a young child, Howard attended Green Castle Baptist Church, and was later baptized at Green Castle.

Howard was educated in the Jefferson County Public Schools, and was a graduate of Seneca High School in 1978. He was an outstanding football player, had a stellar high school record playing the sport, and was awarded in team all state, while helping to lead Seneca to a 1976 County Championship victory.

After graduating from high school, Howard enlisted into the United States Army. Upon returning from the Army, he was employed in masonry construction. Hard work did not keep him from finding time to relax and enjoy his leisure time. His hobbies were fishing, hunting, cooking, and especially grilling. He was the “Grill Master” for the family.

Howard was married to Carolyn Irene Richardson for 37 years, and to this union four children were born; one daughter, and three sons.

Simplicity was what Howard was all about - the simple things in life. He had a calm personality, and a “laid back” demeanor. These two characteristics that he possessed, were the major reasons people wanted to be in his company. He was a good listener, a man of wisdom, and engaged in honest and non judgemental conversation.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard Smiley and Douglas Richardson; and grandmother, Annie Mae Richardson.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Carolyn Richardson; daughter, Shavonne Bass; sons, Howard, Travis and Jordan Richardson; daughter in-law, LaTonja Richardson; granddaughters, Shanyah Betts, Remy and Alease Richardson; grandsons, Troy, Javon and Treyshawn Vanlier, and Taj Richardson; brothers, Ronald and Phillip Richardson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members. He will be missed!
