Jesse Lee Yowell, III of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on October 27, 2025, at the age of 57. He was a beloved son, father of two, brother, and Uncle.
Visitation 11-12 Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at W.T. Shumake & Daughters Funeral Home 3815 Newburg Road. Funeral to follow at 12. Burial Kentucky Veteran Cemetery, Radcliff, Kentucky.
Jesse was born on February 8, 1968, in Lexington, Kentucky, to Talberta Owens Yowell and Jesse L. Yowell Jr. He was the oldest of two children.
Jesse began his Christian journey at an early age while attending the Historic St. Paul A.M.E Church, Lexington, KY with his family. He was baptized at Cannan Baptist Church in Louisville, KY and served as a Sunday School Teacher before moving to Virgina with his family.
He was educated in Jefferson Public Schools and graduated from Moore High School. After graduating high school, Jesse continued with the Army National Guard of Kentucky and attended JCTC and Ivy Tech. Also, he served in the United State Navy as a medic. As an entrepreneur Jesse started a transportation company in Virgina. Once relocated back to Louisville, Jesse was a dedicated employee of Kentucky Containers for several years. He was an enthusiastic NASCAR fan and was training for his pilot license.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents; Jesse and Thelma Yowell, maternal grandparents; John and Eldora Owens, father; the Rev. Jesse L. Yowell Jr. He leaves to cherish his memories: his mother; Talberta Yowell of Louisville, KY; two daughters Jessica Yowell of Chesapeake, Va; Jordan Yowell of Tyson, VA; siblings; Tammi Yowell of Louisville, KY; Alexis Yowell of Durham, NC; Janael Yowell of Durham, NC; Ezra Yowell of Raliegh, NC; bonus mother; Karen Yowell of Creedmoor, NC; nephew, Lu Sean Brown, uncle John C. Owens Jr. of Phoenix AZ, host of cousins and friends.
