Michael A. Woods, born March 31, 1967, in Louisville, Kentucky, peacefully transitioned from this life on October 25, 2025. He was the beloved son of Eleanor Pleasant and Dr. Eddie Woods.

Visitation 12-1pm Saturday, November 8, 2025 at W.T. Shumake & Daughters Funeral Home 3815 Newburg Rd. Funeral to follow at 1pm.

Michael grew up in First Congregational Methodist Church, where he faithfully attended Sunday School and served as an Altar Boy. His early devotion to faith and service shaped the man he became—kind, humble, and deeply committed to helping others.

Michael attended DuPont Manual High School, he was very artistic, part of the Advanced Program and an athlete who enjoyed both football and basketball. His teammates and classmates will remember his dedication, humor, and infectious spirit.

To his family and friends, Michael was known for his middle school fashion (jeans with flats) quick wit, jokes and his habit of giving everyone unique nicknames—a reflection of the special place each person held in his heart. His laughter and loving nature brought joy to every gathering.

Even during his illness, Michael remained steadfast in his faith and service. He continued to attend Sunday services and took pride in his work with Sanitation Team, where his gentle spirit and quiet strength earned him the affectionate title of “The Gentle Giant.”

He is remembered with love by his loving parents, Eleanor Pleasant (Ronald) and Dr. Eddie Woods (Annette); his siblings, Mark Woods (Chiquila), Morris Pleasant, Syreeta Brooks, Tasha Woods, Derron Woods and Dori Woods; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts.

Though he is no longer with us in body, Michael’s light, laughter, and love will continue to shine brightly through all who knew him.
