Garry Wade Williams, Sr., 68, of Louisville transitioned on Friday, June 5, 2026.

A Memorial Service will be held 6:30pm Friday, June 26, 2026 at W.T. Shumake & Daughters Funeral Home 3815 Newburg Road. Burial Petersburg-Newburg Cemetery.

Garry Wade Williams Sr. was born May 18, 1958, to the late Jewell Dean Williams Sr. and Narcissus Levester Williams of Louisville, Kentucky. He was the sixth of seven children and was raised in the Newburg community in what is now known as Petersburg Estates.

Garry graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and went on to earn both his undergraduate and master’s degrees from Kentucky State University. A devoted brother of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, he remained a faithful supporter of the Kentucky State Thoroughbreds football team whenever he could.

He enjoyed NHRA drag racing and bluegill fishing, but above all he treasured time spent with his grandchildren.

Garry confessed his life to Christ at an early age at Community Baptist Church. He later married Angela Taylor and was blessed with a stepdaughter, Lisa, and a son, Garry Jr.

Garry was preceded in death by his parents Big Jewell Dean Williams Sr. and Narcissus Levester Williams.
He is survived by his children Lisa and Garry Jr.; siblings Felix Wayne (Janice), Jewell Jr. (Charlene), Linda Monroe, Donnie (Robin), Anita Teamer (Gene), and Stephen (Yvette); grandchildren Jason, Gabriel, Chloe, Kendall, and Carter; and a host of other relatives and friends who will cherish his memory.
