Avery Darnell Graves was born June 15, 1964, to parents, James T. Jackson and Martha Graves. He was the third of their six children. Avery accepted Christ into heart at an early age and became a member of Kentucky Street Original Church of God located at 1821 Muhammad Ali. His education was received through the Jefferson County Public Schools System with him concluding his years of education at Central High School.

Avery's passion was cooking. He loved to cook, and among family and friends, he was considered a great cook. He found enjoyment in spending time with his family and friends, listening to R&B Music (especially his favorite group - Earth, Wind and Fire), and watching the Duke basketball games. He was a true diehard Duke fan. In his spare time, he played challenging mind games like dominoes and chess, and physical games like handball. Avery was also an avid reader, which kept his mind sharp.

Avery was a natural when it came to carpentry work. He was a real “Mr. Fix It”. He could make and/or repair most things with just his handy tool kit. Sadly, on Friday. January 19, 2024, Avery Darnell Graves departed this life. He was preceded in death by his sister, Eloinda Adams; brother, Gregory Graves; and father, James T. Jackson. Avery leaves to cherish his memories, his children, Avery, Jr., Michal, Jojuane, and DiAvery; mother, Martha Graves; two brothers, Robert Graves, Sr., and James Jackson, Jr.; one sister, Jacqueline Jackson; four grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends.
