Barbara Jean Woodard Patton was born on September 20, 1937 to the union of Joseph Henry Woodard and Dora Lunsford in Springfield, TN. Her father died a few months after her birth. After the death of her mother, Jean was raised by her beloved aunt Katherine Scott. She attended Bransford elementary and High School where she was a member of the choir.
In December of 1954, she was joined in holy matrimony to Robert M.C. Patton in Springfield, TN. As a result of this union 5 children blessed their lives. Three proceeded in death before her; Phillip Clay, Rickey L., and Cheryl (Baba).
After moving to Louisville, Kentucky, Barbara became a member of Green Street Baptist Church.
Barbara (also known as Jean, Auntie Jeanie, Granny) worked for several companies throughout her life. Her last employer and where she retired from was Kroger.
Jean was an avid sports fan. She was a big U of L fan. She loved the Boston Celtics, Jayson Tatum, and Steph Curry. You could often see her shimmying right along with Curry as he was making three point shot after three point shot. She could quote you stat lines, injury reports and tell who would ever would listen, how much she didn’t care for LeBron James. She loved to travel to many away games to support her Cardinals. She was fortunate enough to attend several NFL football games as well.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, working jigsaw puzzles, cooking, Bingo, watching sports, and a good fish fry. Barbara was blessed with a host of friends and one special best friend, Margaret Miller. Their friendship lasted over sixty years as their bond grew while raising their children together.
Barbara Jean Patton passed away on September 10, 2024. As Barbara Jean transitioned to Heaven, we cherish her memories.
