Beverly Sue Ann Sheckles Posey, 72, of Louisville died July 25, 2021

Visitation 9-11 Saturday at W.T. Shumake & Daughters Funeral Home 3815 Newburg Road. Funeral to follow at 11am. Burial Louisville Cemetery

Beverly Sue Ann Sheckles Posey was born on Thursday, June 9th, 1949 in Louisville, Kentucky to Arletty Ashby and George Sheckles, Jr.

Although she loved the NBA, she was an avid, lifelong, die hard U of L Cardinal fan. She retired from the Board of Education after 27 years of service. After retirement, she enjoyed sitting with and taking care of the elderly. Beverly was a member of Walters Clement A.M.E. Zion Church and remained a faithful member until her health began to decline. She served as an Usher, Deaconess, and was on The Board of Trustees, a role she held dear to her heart.

Family was very important to Beverly and she enjoyed the family BBQs, cookouts, fish frys, or a simple Sunday dinner with family and friends around. Whether she was running errands or just hanging out, Amaraen was her constant sidekick. She always took time to hear Da’Maya talk her jibble jabber. Lakoria “Lata” was the first baby. She shared and showed love as she journeyed through her life.

Beverly ascended into the presence of our Heavenly Father on Sunday, July 25th, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arletty (John) Ashby and George Sheckles; her brothers, George and Gifford Sheckles; and her sister, Bonnie Sheckles. Those left to cherish her beautiful memories are her loving husband, Granville Posey Jr.; her son, John Ivy (Tammiy); grandchildren J’Aunna Ivy and Cedric Ivy; great grandchildren Kylan and Isaiah; her siblings, Benita Freeman, Laurie Sheckles; and Maurice Sheckles; stepchildren, Ricky Posey, Michelle Posey, Rachel Posey, and Gwendolyn Maddox; 6 step grandchildren and 12 step great grandchildren; her best friends of 50 years who were more like sisters than friends, Grace Smith and Vivian Puckett who she talked to daily; and a host of extended family and friends.
