Clarence Lucian Rush, also known as, “Stack of Dollars”, was born on August 18,1935, to his proud parents, Tom and Sue Mattie Carter Rush, in Burkesville, KY.

In 1953, he joined the United States military where he did tours in Vietnam, South Korea, Europe, Australia and other places. He served as Mess Sergeant (chef) while doing his service for our country and continued to use his culinary skills for family and friends after his retirement from the military in 1974. As a civilian, Clarence worked for Reliance Universal until 1991.

Also, since he no longer had to be in uniforms, he went back to being a “full time” stylish dresser where he almost always wore the most current suits. When he found time to just relax and be at home, he entertained himself by sitting in front of the television watching old western cowboy shows. He also enjoyed traveling.

He had a taste for the “wild of the land”, so it was not unusual for him to cook and eat turtle or rabbit as well as other types of foods. Since he had served as a Mess Sergeant (chef) in the army, he continued to cook as a civilian for family and friends, and everyone who was invited looked forward to whatever he prepared to eat.

Clarence was a man who never met a stranger and had a positive conversation with all whom he encountered. He made everyone feel comfortable and welcome when in his presence. His greatest joy was spending time with family, and they enjoyed being in his presence.

Sadly, on Saturday, November 16, 2024, Clarence Lucian Rush departed this life. He is survived by his wife Barbara; children, Larry Tyrone Rush, Marc Rush, LaTasha Rush, Tara Rush; stepdaughter, Helen “Poochie” Matthews; siblings, Frank Davis Rush of Clarksville, Tennessee, Mark Rush, Donald Lewis Alexander, and Dorothy Alexander of Burkesville, Kentucky; 10 grandchildren, Devona Cain, Sophia Matthews, Gabrielle Matthews, Iman Rush, Tyler Jeanette, Bianca Rush-Rox, Isaiah Higginbotham, Zsamirah Rush, Zsanee Rush and Christopher Rush; 4 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
