Corey Eugene Girton, 47, of Louisville transitioned on Friday, February 20, 2026.

Visitation 10-12 Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Forest Tabernacle Baptist Church 4205 E. Indian Trail. Funeral to follow at 12. Burial Petersburg-Newburg Cemetery.

Corey Eugene Girton was born March 7, 1978 to Gwen Girton and Coy Bishop Jr. in Louisville, Kentucky where he lived all his life. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age.

Corey was a hard and dedicated worker. He always kept a job and his employers often raved about how good of an employee he was. He was employed at Premier Direct Marketing for several years until his passing.

Known to his family as "Pooh", Corey was always the life of the party. He loved spending quality time with his family and having a good time. If the music was playing, he was on the dance floor. You could always depend on him to bring joy and laughter to the room, as you never knew what he might say.

Corey was a big fan of the Louisville Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys and enjoyed playing video games with his family and friends. His motivation in life was his son, mother, brothers, and his sister. He gained his wings on Friday, February 20, 2026.

He was proceeded in death by one brother, Coy Girton, Sr.; one nephew, Coy Girton Jr, his grandparents and one uncle. Corey leaves to cherish his memories, one son, Cortrell Girton of Louisville, KY; his mother, Gwen “Porky” Girton of Louisville, KY ; his father, Coy Bishop Jr. of Martinville, VA; one brother; Andre (Linda) Girton and one sister, Angela Girton (Deon Barbee) both of Louisville, KY; as well as a host of paternal brothers and sisters, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
