Donald Eugene Leonard, Sr, 64, of Louisville transitioned on Saturday November 8, 2025.

Visitation 11-1 Friday, November 21, 2025 at W.T. Shumake & Daughters Funeral Home 3815 Newburg Road. Funeral to follow at 1pm.

Donald Eugene Leonard, Sr. was born in Bardstown, Kentucky, on Monday, September 27, 1971, to Bernice Leonard and George Owens, Jr, Early on, he was a quiet person that kept to himself. He enjoyed fishing, and when his family members were available, he would take them along. Other times he would go alone, always sharing his catch of the day with friends and neighbors.

In Donald’s spare time he also enjoyed watching sports, especially the UK Wildcats and the Denver Broncos. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.

Whether it was a holiday, or just a family gathering, after the main meal was served, everyone was looking for Donald to bring his famous cheesecake. For 20+ years, Donald was the supervisor of Adams Mathews Cheesecake Factory, here in Louisville. If you haven’t had a cheesecake from there, you have missed a treat.

This years, Donald and Tonya celebrated 23 years of marriage. Sadley on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the tender age of 54, Leonard was called to his eternal home. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Tonya Leonard; children, Donald Leonard Jr, Faith Scott (Leonard), Keon Williams; stepdaughter, LaChristle Jenkins; grandchildren, Amina, Ali, Ares, and Genesis; extended brother, John Ellington; nieces, Markea, Shenica and Felicia; and a host of extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Bernice Leonard; father, George Owens, Jr.; stepfather, Linford Leonard; siblings, Mark Bivens and Angela Bivens.
