Donald Lee “Bubba” Green was born on July 12th, 1948, in Anchorage, Kentucky to Rev. LMinor Green and Willie Castle Jones Green. Born and raised in the Griffytown community on Malcolm Avenue, Don grew up grounded in faith, family, and friendship—values that guided him throughout his life.

Don excelled as an athlete, playing football at Eastern High School and later at Kentucky State University. After college, he went on to proudly serve his country as a member of the 100th Division/ US Army Reserve.

Don built a long and respected career with the Kentucky State Department of Corrections, as a CUA II (Correctional Unit Administrator II), where he was admired for his professionalism, fairness, and integrity. After many years of dedicated service, he retired with pride, leaving behind a legacy of commitment and leadership.

A man of great strength and resilience, Don faced life’s challenges with courage, including his successful battle as a cancer survivor. He was known for his sharp wit, warm smile, and the ability to make those around him feel at ease. A lifelong sports enthusiast, he especially loved cheering on the University of Louisville Cardinals, a passion that brought him joy season after season.

Outside of work and sports, Don found peace and fulfillment in simple joys. He loved fishing on quiet mornings, cooking for family gatherings, and sharing life lessons through his natural gift for teaching. His greatest joy, however, was found in time spent with his wife, Karen; daughter, Donna, and his grandchildren. He was deeply proud of them all, and nothing made him happier than cheering them on, encouraging them in their dreams, and reminding them of how loved they were.

Don was blessed to share his life with two remarkable women. He was first married to Clancey, with whom he built many cherished memories and raised three children, later welcoming the joy of grandchildren into his life. In time, he found love again with his wife, Karen, who remained a faithful companion by his side in his later years.

Sadly Donald Lee Green at the tender age of 77, passed away peacefully on the morning of August 21, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones He is lovingly survived by his wife, Karen; twin brother, Ron Green; his devoted daughter, Donna Green; stepchildren, Brian (Shanel), Alex (Keisha), Anthony (Brigitte)Raspberry his cherished grandchildren, Deshon Green, Elexus Green, Edward Green, Caylynn Brewer, Isryll Green, Chelsea Brewer, and Camryn Brewer, Bryson, Jayden, Ethan, Joshua, Ayden and Elizabeth Raspberry;; and his treasured great-grandchildren, Kiari Green, Nasir Green, Zyking Green, and Zoe Green.
