Doris Jean Gathright, 89, of Louisville transitioned on Monday, June 23, 2025.
Visitation 10-12 Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at Forest Baptist Church 4500 Petersburg Road. Funeral to follow at 12. Burial Petersburg- Newburg Cemetery.
Doris Jean Gathright was born to the late Freddie Elmore and Catherine Richmond Gathright, on November 3, 1935 in Louisville, Kentucky. She was one of seven siblings.
At an early age, Doris was baptized at Forest Baptist Church on Petersburg Road, in Louisville, Kentucky. At that time, her mother, Catherine, was the Church Secretary.
Doris was a dedicated employee of Jefferson County Public Schools for many years. After rendering her service to JCPS, she became one of their devoted and dependable employees that ended her employment by retiring.
Doris will be forever remembered for her kindness that she showed towards everyone she met; her unselfishness that she exhibited with her giving spirit; and her sense of humor that brought sunshine to those she was around. She loved her family, and they experienced that unconditional love through her support and encouragement. Her nieces and nephews certainly were on the receiving end of her care and love for them.
Sadly, on Monday, June 23, 2025, Doris Jean Gathright, at the age of eighty nine, went to her heavenly rest. Her cherished memories will live on in her brother, Ron Gathright (Sandy); and a host of nieces, nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Freddie and James; sisters, Ruth Starr, Barbara Mae Harris, and Shirley Ann Jackson.
