Dwight Louis Allen, 78, of Louisville transitioned on Monday, July 21, 2025 at Baptist Health.

Visitation 11:30am - 12:30pm Saturday,
July 26, 2025 at W.T. Shumake & Daughters Funeral Home 3815 Newburg Road. His funeral will follow at 12:30pm. Burial 2:30pm Monday, July 28, 2025 at Kentucky Veteran Cemetery 2501 N. Dixie Blvd, Radcliff, Kentucky.

Dwight Allen was born in Louisville, Kentucky, to Robert and Marie Allen on July 2, 1947. He was one of eight children. He accepted Christ at an early age. Dwight attended Seneca High School, where he was a member of Seneca’s football team that won the first and only Kentucky state championship in 1965, and he graduated that same year.

Eventually, he enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War. Dwight enjoyed singing and sharing the message of Christ with people whenever he was in public. He enjoyed bowling, playing tennis, fishing, and roller skating.

Dwight was united in holy matrimony to Bernice Allen, and to this union, one child blessed their lives.

On Monday, July 21, 2025, Dwight Allen was called home to take his rest. Dwight leaves to cherish his memories: wife, sons, grandchildren, sisters, brothers, relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and baby sister.
