On Thursday October 10, 1940, a beautiful baby girl named Emma Jean was born in Crockett County in the small town of Bells, Tennessee. Her proud parents were George and Johnette Bolds Ingram. She was the third of eight children. As she grew into childhood, Emma was very quiet and loved her Papa, as she would call him although Papa was actually her grandfather. Later in life, she talked about how he was a loving, kindhearted man who was also a preacher.

At the age of seventeen, Emma gave her life to Jesus Christ. She loved Him so much, talked about Him, and was a witness for Him throughout her lifetime as she told of His goodness. She prayed for family members to be saved, and it wasn’t overnight, but she saw and heard her husband give his life to Christ until the day he died, and of course, she witnessed the same for siblings and so many other people.

While she was still a little girl, her father worked for L&N Railroad. He eventually moved the family to Louisville, Kentucky, where she later met and married Rudolph Alexander from New Albany, Indiana, and became a housewife and the mother to six children. She made many sacrifices throughout the years and would give her last dime to help her own children. Her ability to sew was a blessing for the entire family although her youngest didn’t think so at the time. When Emma Jean found a pattern she liked, it was used again and again. The only difference was the color of the material.

At her church, she worked in women's ministry as a missionary, served the sick and shut-in, worked in the prayer room, evangelized throughout Louisville and other cities and states. Even in later years, Emma opened her home to many people. If anyone had to say something about Emma Jean it would be that she was a woman of God.

On Wednesday, May 24, 2023, Emma Jean Bolds Alexander received her orders to come home to be with Jesus. She leaves to cherish their memories of her: three living children, Sharon Alexander, Michael Alexander (Christy), Gwendolyn Bonner (Tim); brother, Edward Bolds, Sr. (Lawanda); 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.

Emma Jean Bolds Alexander was preceded in death by her parents, husband, children, Regina Martin, Debbie Alexander, Mark Alexander; siblings, Charles Bolds, Cleve Bolds, Georgia Faye Peels, Anna Laura Bourne, Fred Lewis, Chester Bolds and Johnetta Nancy Bolds.
