Gayle Carol Goodwin Posey

Louisville - 78, transitioned from this life on September 19, 2021, to forever be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Born to the late Joseph "Daddy Joe" Goodwin, Sr. and Evelyn (Fitzpatrick) Goodwin, she is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Alvin David Posey; siblings, Gary, Marnell, Clara Jean, and Edwin Goodwin, Sr.

Gayle received her early education in the Jefferson County Public School system, Louisville, Kentucky, where she graduated from Southern High School. Gayle retired from General Electric Appliance Park after diligently working for over 30 years.

She accepted Christ and joined Forest Baptist Church, Louisville, Kentucky at a young age. She later joined the Canaan Christian Church, where she served selflessly in several ministries until her condition worsened.

She had several loves, including washing clothes, talking to her sisters on the telephone several times a day, thrift store treasure hunting, holiday decorating, painting, University of Louisville sports, tending to her pristine lawn, reading and studying the Bible. No matter what the occasion, Gayle would find an excuse to prepare her famous salmon croquettes. However, she still found the time to faithfully serve in the Red Hat Society.

However, Gayle's true passion was fellowshipping and spreading the Word with individuals from all walks of life. She was a faithful member of the Canaan Special Missions Ministry, which regularly supported and ministered through Wayside Christian Mission, Feed the Children, Habitat for Humanity, Father Flanagan's Boys' Home, nursing homes throughout the local community, and regularly fed the hungry with the gospel as well as with food.

Carrying on her legacy are her children, Lisa Vaillancourt (Leonard), Gerald Posey (Regina), Adrienne Bracken, and Jason Posey; three young men she raised as sons, Donnie (deceased), Bobby, and Johnny Moore; grandchildren, Brittani Alfaro (Adam), Scot Vaillancourt, Christian (Lexy), Myles, and Zachary Maddox, Joshua, Chandler, Aaron, Marcus, Kennedi, and Kendall Posey; and great grandchildren, Grayceson and Noah Alfaro, Lucca and Mylani Maddox; and siblings, Donald Goodwin, Sr. (Sharelle), Naomi Hannon, Joseph Goodwin, Jr. (Pauline), Cecil Goodwin (Vanessa), Joan Dorsey, and Dana Ross (David), a host of nieces and nephews and the neighborhood children she adopted as her own.

Viewing will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021, from 11:00am-12:00pm. The funeral service in Gayle's honor will immediately follow at 12:00pm at Canaan Christian Church, 2840 Hikes Lane, Louisville, Kentucky. Gayle will be laid to rest in the historical Petersburg-Newburg Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Gayle Posey's honor to the Canaan Christian Church Special Missions Ministry, 2840 Hikes Lane, Louisville, KY 40218.
