Jacqueline Luvenia Jackson Lewis was born on April 10, 1947 in Louisville, Kentucky, to the proud parents, the late Alvin and Elizabeth Jackson.

“Jackie”, as she was fondly called by family and friends, accepted Christ at a young age, and started her Christian journey. In the later years of her life, she was rebaptized and renewed her relationship with Christ at Caldwell A.M.E. Church under the leadership of Rev. Harold Stateman.

Jackie attended Jefferson County Public Schools, and later earned her graduation status by obtaining her GED. Her employment history was with Jefferson County Public School System as a Safety Patrol Officer, and at Central State Hospital, where she retired after 25 years of service.

Jackie found enjoyment in playing Bingo and playing cards (Tonk), where she was member of a Card Club called “Hearts and Diamonds”. These were her pastime and hobbies that brought her together with family and friends. She also loved singing Karaoke. Her favorite song was “Midnight Train to Georgia” by Gladys Knight and the Pips. She had a multitude of other interests, such as entertaining herself at the Casino’s, and cooking and baking to relax herself. Her favorite cakes that she was best known for was her delectable Pineapple Upside Down cake, her famous Strawberry cake, and last, but certainly not least, her scrumptious and juicy Peach Cobbler. “If you know, then you know”.

Family was of the utmost importance to Jackie. She enjoyed spending quality time with her family and friends. The laughs, the fun, the meaningful relationships, meant so much to her. But her biggest and most gratifying joy came from taking care of and providing for her grandchildren.

On Wednesday, December 4, 2024, Jacqueline Luvenia Jackson Lewis departed this life, and went to be with her Heavenly Father. She leaves to cherish her memories, her sons, James and Raughn Lewis; daughters, Cheryl Lewis and Shakira Beeler; sister, Agatha Stateman; a host of grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Jackie was preceded in death by both parents, Alvin and Elizabeth Jackson; three brothers, Harrison, John and Joe Ashby; son, Keevin Hayden; and grandson, D’Shawn Saunders.
