James Milford Dickerson, Jr. was born on November 27, 1945, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late James Dickerson, Sr., and Essie Bowman Dickerson. James, affectionately known to family and friends as "Fuzzy," was the oldest of three children.

James was educated in the Louisville Public School System. He attended Newburg Elementary School and graduated from Seneca High School in 1965. James was raised in Oakland Baptist Church and accepted Christ as his savior at an early age.

In 1972, James was married to Mary Trice. God blessed their marriage with two adoring children- sons Kevin Vercel Dickerson and Travis Vaugh Dickerson.

James was known for his love of bowling, singing, and motorcycles. Once he could no longer ride, he enjoyed long drives through the countryside.

On Saturday, March 16, 2024, the time he arrived for James to quietly transition to his eternal home. He leaves to cherish his memory his dedicated partner Barbara Spencer; children, Kevin Dickerson (Elizabeth) and Travis Dickerson (Daria); sisters Estonia "Toni" Wilson and Yolanda "Lonnie" Dean, grandson Vance Dickerson, six nieces and one nephew, nine great-nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

James was truly and uniquely one of a kind. He was always joyful and was thankful for every day he was given and for his family, who accompanied him on his life's journey. He lived his life well, was a good father, friend, and neighbor, and was so many things to so many people. His love, his light, and his life will always be remembered.
