James Winfort Richardson, 67, of Louisville transitioned on Wednesday, November15, 2023.
Visitation 9-11 Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Newburg Church of Christ 4700 E. Indian Trail. Funeral to follow at 11. Burial Monday, December 4, 2023 at Kentucky Veteran Cemetery, Radcliff, Kentucky.
James Winfort Richardson was born August 3, 1956, in LaGrange, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Chester and Annie Richardson and brother to twelve siblings. He attended Thomas Jefferson High School and later received his GED. “Hillbilly” was the nickname that was affectionately given to James. At the tender age of seventeen years old, he enlisted into the United States Army. He was well known and recognized in the Newburg community.
On June 19, 1996, James’ life made a complete change, when he became a member of the Newburg Church of Christ, and it became especially important to him. The members were considered a part of his family. He thrived on the Holy Bible by attending classes, learning scriptures, and teaching the word. He was truly a “fisher of men”.
James married Dianne Booker on May 22, 1998, and to his union, they were blessed with two sons, Isaac and Nicholas. He was a good husband, father, brother, uncle and cousin to his family members. He took care of his family by being a dedicated employee at the Volunteers of America, and he worked there until his health declined. Besides his dedication to family, he also had a love for all types of sports with U of L being his favorite basketball team. In his leisure time, he enjoyed relaxing by fishing and playing chess.
On November 15, 2023, James Winfort Richardson departed from his earthly life at Norton Hospital and went to be with his Heavenly Father. He is preceded in death by his: mother, Annie Richardson; brothers, Robert, Joe and Larry; sisters, Annie Edwards, Naomi Weaver, and Norma Jean Richardson. James leaves to cherish their memories of him his: wife, Dianne Richardson; two sons, Isaac and Nicholas Richardson; siblings, Ruth Helen Hinkle, Joyce Scott, Edward (Sharon) Richardson, George (Bernie) Richardson, Ralph (Cheryl) Richardson; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends of the family.
