JamesElla Thompson Bundley, 93, of Louisville transitioned on Sunday, September 20, 2026.

Visitation 10am-12pm Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Newburg Church of Christ 4700 E. Indian Trail. Funeral will follow at 12noon. Burial Resthaven Memorial Gardens Cemetery 4400 Bardstown Road.

JamesElla Bundley was born April 19, 1933, to the parents of Alice Margaret Thompson and James (Sunny) Thompson in Louisville, KY. She was motivated to complete her General Education Diploma to create better opportunities for herself and her children. During her life, she was employed by Jefferson County Board of Education, Mother’s Cookie Factory, and she retired from General Electric after over 20 years of service.

She was baptized at Newburg Church of Christ under the leadership of Brother William Baker where she began a lifelong journey of faith and devotion to God. She loved the Lord deeply and was a devoted member of Newburg Church of Christ until she was called home on Sunday, September 20, 2026. Her faith was an important part of who she was and how she chose to live her life. She especially had a heart for children and found immense joy in teaching children at church and planting seeds of faith for future generations.

Known for her vibrant sense of style, JamesElla expressed herself through her love of fashion, colorful nail polish, and her knack for crafting. She was especially known for her beautiful hats and her love of wearing different color nail polish on her pinky fingers. Whether through what she wore or what she created with her hands, JamesElla had a way of adding her own special touch to everything she did.

Including her parents, JamesElla was preceded in death by 7 siblings, her husband Cardell Bundley, her daughter Regina Watkins, and her son James Watkins. The memory of JamesElla will live on in the lives of her family. She is survived by her brother George Fitzpatrick and sisters in law Edwina Thompson and Laurie Green. She was the proud mother of Larry E (Carol) Watkins, Henry J (Susan) Watkins, Jacqueline D Sanders, Reginald W Watkins, Monica E Wilson, and Cazella A Watkins. JamesElla was also the grandmother to 32 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren as well.

JamesElla leaves behind a beautiful legacy of faith, family, and love. Her presence will be deeply missed but the lessons she taught, the prayers she prayed, and the love she poured into her family will continue for generations to come. Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that the God she loved, served, and taught others about has now welcomed her home.
