Jeffery Tyron Summers, 59, of Louisville transitioned on Thursday, June 11, 2024.

Visitation 11am - 12pm Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Forest Tabernacle Baptist Church 4205 E. Indian Trail. Funeral to follow at 12 noon.

Jeffery Tyron Summers was born August 9, 1964 to Margaret Summers and the late Jake Willie Mays.

He was educated in the Jefferson County Public School system, and was a graduate of Southern High School.

At an early age, Jeffery accepted Christ at King Solomon Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Charles Elliott, Jr. and later united with One Accord World Outreach Church under the leadership of Pastor Percy Brown.

Jeffery was affectionately called by many names. Some called him Jigger, Snake, Shabba, and many more names that we may not have known about.

Jeffery was a jokester and athletic. He was an avid tennis player, a skilled basketball player, and a well-coordinated skater. When he was younger, he imitated Michael Jackson by moon walking, and tried to sing like James Brown by using a broom as a microphone.

Jeffrey was an encourager for others as well as for himself. The thought comes to mind that when his leg was amputated, and his mother did not want to see him in the hospital, Jeffery let his mom know that he was ok, and that he had his life to live, and could live it with one leg.

Jeffery loved his family. Even though he would do a disappearing act on the family, and be gone for two to three days, causing the family to worry, God would always bring him back home safe to the family.

Jeffrey had many friends who would assist him by pushing his wheelchair and a nephew that took him places he did not need to go. He had a special group of friends on Poplar Level Road at the Ace’s Liquor Store, that loved him, even though he may have gotten on some of their nerves. No matter what the circumstances, that group of friends was in his corner.

Carol Summers was Jeffery’s special friend, and the mother of his children, Latrice, Jacoby, and Jeffery, Jr. He was a father figure for all of his children, as well as Carol’s children, Derrick, Zack, Dray, Tierra, Miatisha, Alexus, and Destiny.

Jeffery was preceded in death by his brothers, Curtis Richards Xavier Summers (Chi), James Andrew Summers (Teddy), and one sister, Tina Roxanna Rodriquez.

On Thursday, January 11, 2024, Jeffery Tyron Summers departed this life. He leaves to cherish his memories, his mother, Margaret Summers; children, Latrice, Jacoby and Jeffery, Jr.; two brothers, Thomas and Johnathan Summers; Step Brother, Curtis Smith; sisters, Virginia Robinson of Little Rock, AR, Telisha Summers Mitchell Traynor, and Reginia Summers Bonhom Betts; nieces, nephews, and a host of other family members.
