Jimmy Hudson, Sr.

February 28, 1948 - May 28, 2025

Visitation: 10-12 Saturday, June 7, 2025 at Star Hope Baptist Church, 5009 E. Indian Trail. Funeral will follow at 12 Noon.

Jimmy Hudson, Sr. was born on February 28, 1948 to proud parents, the late William "Brother Hut" and Nell Hudson. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, veteran, and friend. He lived a life full of love, service, strength, and unwavering loyalty.

It was at Thomas Jefferson High School where Jimmy began his football journey, and his talent and passion for the game first took root. After he graduated from high school, he continued his education at Morehead State University, and also continued playing football. Though his playing days eventually ended, his love for the sport lived on, especially for the University of Tennessee Volunteers, his favorite team. He bled orange and white, and supported them with unmatched pride.

Jimmy was a proud Army Veteran, and a hardworking man, who retired from G.E. Appliance Park after being employed there for 37 years. He was also a gifted mechanic, who could fix anything - cars, small engines and many other things you can name. He made it a point to pass down his knowledge of repairing things, to his grandson, Duke. Duke and Lucy were his heart, and he adored his many nieces and nephews, who looked to him with admiration and love.

Jimmy was also deeply rooted in his community, coaching and playing softball with the Mi's Migots, L & H, and Bee Gee's teams. He was more than a coach. He was a mentor, a motivator, and a builder of community through sports.

In addition to sports, horse racing was a beloved hobby and focal point in Jimmy's life. Whether watching, betting, or just enjoying the culture around it, the track was another place where his passion and competitive spirit shined.

To Jimmy's family, he was the main artery - the one who kept everything flowing. He was a strong, quiet presence, a trusted confidante, and a man of deep wisdom. His strength, kindness, and dependability, shaped generations, and certainly his absence leaves a space and a void that cannot be filled.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, William "Brother Hut" and Nell Hudson; brothers, Wilbert Hudson (Carolyn) and William T. "Gabby" Gibbs (Lee); sisters, Doris Farrington and Virginia Ferguson; and his beloved grandson, JaQuan "Duke" Askew.

Sadly, Jimmy Hudson, Sr. departed this life on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Willetta "BoBo" Hudson; daughter, Angela Hudson; son, Jimmy Hudson, Jr.; granddaughter, Jayla Askew; brothers, Thomas Hudson (Carolyn), Clarence Hudson (Katherine) and Ronnie Hudson (Robin); sister, Mary Nell Hudson; and a host of devoted In-Laws, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and lifelong friends.

Jimmy Hudson, Sr. was a man of integrity, wisdom, and immense love. His legacy will live on in the lives he touched and the lessons he passed on. Though we grieve, we also give thanks for having known such a beautiful soul.
Rest in eternal peace, Jimmy. You will never be forgotten!
