Joyce Elizabeth Davis, 83, of Louisville passed on February 9, 2023.

Visitation 10-12 Friday, February 17, 2023 at First Gethsemane Church 1159 Algonquin Pkwy. Funeral to follow at 12 noon. Burial Evergreen Cemetery.

Joyce Elizabeth Davis, was born August 26, 1939, in Louisville, Kentucky . She was the first born daughter of the late Virrie Sanders and Ernest Davis.

Joyce was a graduate of her beloved Central High School (Class of 1959), where she was loved by many. She was blessed to attend every class reunion, even the last one held in 2022.

At an early age, Joyce accepted Christ, and was baptized, and served at both Stoner Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, and Jones Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church. She later became a member of First Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member and vibrant Sunday School participant.

Joyce was a true servant of God, rendering her talent as an Organist and Pianist, at multiple churches for weddings and funerals. She began her career, as a Pianist, at Stoner Memorial A.M.E. Zion. She was also a member of the Voices of Zion, which was a community choir combined of all A.M.E. Zion churches of Kentucky and Indiana.

Joyce was a Licensed Practical Nurse who used her nursing skills in various hospitals, agencies and companies. She retired from Humana as a Pre-Authorization Nurse.

Joyce also had a very active personal life, joining a CB Club where she got the handle “Bodacious Lady”. She loved to travel and dine out. She enjoyed being with her family and their friends, and even started a family tradition of cooking dinner for New Year’s Day, that became a yearly event, she was most proud to host.

Joyce was preceded in death by both parents, and brothers, Michael and Lawrence.

On Thursday, February 9, 2023, Joyce Elizabeth Davis transitioned, and began her journey to be with her Heavenly Father. She leaves to cherish her memories, two daughters, Veronda Hawkins (Keith), and Celethia Neal (Darnell); two sons, Dwight Davis and William Griffith (Denise); two sisters, Sheila Love and Selene Harbin Sartin; three brothers, Rev. Ronald C. Mucker (Johnetta), Reginald Mucker (Carrie) and Timothy Mucker (Donna); two sister friends for lifer, Willena Hawkins and Doris White Grant, and her Wills Court family; seven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
