Katherine "Kat" Bennett Nichols, 74, of Louisville transitioned to her heavenly home on Wednesday, August 23, 2023.
Visitation 10-12 Thursday, August 31, 2023 at W.T. Shumake & Daughters Funeral Home 3815 Newburg Road. Funeral to follow at 12 noon. Burial Green Meadows Cemetery.

Katherine Bennett Nichols was born on February 18, 1949 in Clarksville, Indiana, to Mary Wade Bennett and Winston G. Bennett. She was one of 9 children.

She accepted Christ at an early age and began her Christian journey. Later she united with Words of Faith Church of Deliverance. She was an avid reader of the Bible and truly loved the Lord. In her limited spare time she listened to Christian music, bowl, and old movies.

Educated in the Jefferson County Board of Education, "Kat" graduated from Shawnee High School and joined the workforce as a nursing assistant for over 30 years at the old Louisville General Hospital.

Katherine was married to Leonard Nichols and two children blessed their lives, Mary and Leonard, Jr.

On August 23, 2020 Katherine "Kat" Bennett Nichols departed this life. She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Leonard, children, Mary Nichols and Leonard Nichols, Jr.; siblings Henry Thomas Bennett, Mary Cornell Bennett, Kenneth Harold Bennett and Jerry Lee Bennett; 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and host of relatives and friends.

She preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Vera Horsley and Joan Hearn; brothers, Winston G. Bennett, sr. and William Earl Bennett.
