Kenneth Braxton Shauntee, 77 of Louisville died Saturday, October 17, 2020 at home in Frankfort, Kentucky.

Visitation Friday, October 23, 2020 10-12. W.T. Shumake & Daughters Funeral Home 3815 Newburg Road, Louisville KY. Burial Green Hill Cemetery in Frankfort, Kentucky

Kenneth Braxton Shanutee was born April 18, 1943, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Frank and Margurite Shauntee. Known to many as Kenny, he attended Franklin County High School where he played varsity football and often recalled a football experience where he hit a player so hard it cracked the player's helmet. After graduating, he went on to pursue a degree in economics from Kentucky State University. Sometime afterwards, he became a member of the First Baptist Church of Frankfort, Kentucky. Marriage became a priority after spending time with Mary Lois Crowdus. They proudly raised their three children, Keith, Kay and Tyrone.

Even as a young man, he believed in hard work and demonstrated that when, shortly after high school graduation, he joined the Franklin County Police Department and became a police officer. When he left the police department, he accepted a position as an insurance consultant for Metropolitan Insurance Company, where he gained the nickname "Insurance Man", selling life insurance policies to people all over Frankfort, Lexington, and Louisville. Later, he became the deputy fire marshal for Jefferson County, Kentucky, until his retirement. Throughout the years, he also managed and owned several rental properties in Louisville, Kentucky, and was instrumental in making changes to the State Land-Tenant Act for the State of Kentucky.

Kenneth stayed abreast of political issues and was instrumental in getting State and federal recognition for the only civil war monument for African American Union soldiers in Greenhill Cemetery located in Frankfort. He also loved to travel whether in an RV or relaxing in a timeshare. It was nothing for him to pick up and go to Florida for weeks at a time. All of these good things and good times came to an end at age 77 when Kenneth Braxton Shauntee died peacefully October 17, 2020, due to complications from congestive heart failure. His parents, Frank and Margurite Shauntee preceded him in death.

Leaving to mourn his passing are: children, Keith Shauntee (Kristina) of Louisville, Kentucky; Debora Overstreet (Thomas) of LaGrange, Kentucky; and Tyrone Shauntee of Louisville, Kentucky; his sister Kathy (Authur) Reed of Bardstown, Kentucky; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, friends, and additional family.
