Lamon Charles Tucker, Sr., was born August 31, 1951, in Crenshaw County, Alabama, to the late Cleveland, Sr., and Mildred Oliver Tucker. “Tuck”, as he was affectionately called by family and friends, graduated from Goshen High School in 1969. After high school, Lamon’s brother, James Tucker, who was living in Lorain, Ohio, encouraged him to come there for better job opportunities, so he packed his bags and headed to Ohio. His brother was right, and he began working for Ford Motor Company.

He worked hard, and because of that, Tuck was offered another position at the Ford Trucking Company in Louisville, Kentucky. He, along with his wife, Chandra, relocated to Louisville, and Tuck worked there until he retired after 35 years of combined service. Even after living in Louisville for many years, he always considered himself to be a resident of Ohio.

Lamon was a grill master and enjoyed preparing food on the grill. He loved to fish and to play cards and softball. In fact, he played softball with the Ford league, the Black Athletic Club (Black AC’s), Hurt ‘em Bad in both Loraine and Elyria Ohio, the senior softball team, Ice Men Softball, and the OG’s in Louisville. Lamon was a die-hard Pittsburg Steelers, LA Lakers, Atlanta Braves and the Los Angeles Dodgers FAN. On the college level, Ohio State and Alabama were his favorite teams.

His love for family was paramount. Lamon never missed an opportunity to share his nuggets of wisdom in his everyday conversations. He was never at a loss for words and had a conversation with anyone with whom he came into contact. In his quiet time, he enjoyed playing and listening to his old school music songs by Sam Cook, Otis Redding, James Brown, and others.

Lamon had a fulfilling life. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Cleveland, Sr., and Mildred Tucker; brothers, Cleveland, Jr., Kevin, and Larry Tucker; and sister, Dorothy McLeod. On Saturday, May 13, 2023, Lamon Charles Tucker, Sr., departed this life. He leaves behind to cherish their memories of him: his wife, Chandra Tucker; four sons, Charles Markell Tucker of Greenville, SC, Lamon Le’bron Mastin of Louisville, KY, Lamon Charles Tucker, Jr., of Lorain, OH, James Cleveland Tucker of Louisville, KY; adopted daughter, Chandra Elizabeth Mastin of Lorain, OH; sisters, Marquerite Pearson of New Britain, CT, Nellie McLeod (Lamar) of Goshen, AL, Sybil Nelson of Elyria, OH; brothers, James Tucker (Joanne) of Elyria, OH, Melvin Tucker (Velma) of Troy, AL, Timothy Tucker (Florence) of Troy, AL; sisters-in-law, Queen Tucker of Troy, AL, Lessie Tucker of Goshen, AL, and Rose Tucker of Goshen, AL; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
