Lawerence Berry. 84, of Louisville transitioned on Friday, July 4, 2025 at Baptist Health Hospital.

Visitation 10-12 Saturday, July 12, 2025 at W.T. Shumake & Daughters Funeral Home 3815 Newburg Road. Funeral to follow at 12pm. Burial 12pm Monday, July 14, 2025 at Evergreen Cemetery.
Lawrence Berry was born March 7, 1941 in Pee Wee Valley, Kentucky to proud parents, the late Carl, Sr. and Thelma Berry. To this union, five children were born. Lawrence was the last remaining sibling and the "baby boy."

At the age of 14, Lawrence left home to attend Lincoln Institute in Simpsonville, Kentucky. While in attendance at Lincoln Institute, he was very active playing football and baseball. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Theresa Dixie. He liked to tell the story that Theresa kept coming to his games to check him out! They continued their courtship and later married in 1962. Their pursuit of happiness in marriage continued for 64 years. To that union they had one child, Lisa (the ULTIMATE Daddy's Girl).

Lawrence received his Butchers License, and was able to use his skills by being employed at Fischer Packing Company. He was a dedicated employee at Fischer, and worked there for over 32 years until his retirement in 1996. After retirement from Fischer, Lawrence established a professional painting business with his older, and only brother, Carl, Jr. He took a lot of pride in being a man with two very productive professions, as a butcher and a professional painter.

Lawrence loved all things Louisville (CARDS)! He enjoyed every sport, however football and basketball were his favorites. He truly missed his calling as a Sports Commentator. Fun Fact: He would watch the games on mute, but would listen to the game commentated on the radio!

Racing and betting was a pastime that Lawrence enjoyed. This was also a pastime that he enjoyed with his brother, and passed down to his grandchildren and their friends.

After Lawrence and Theresa both retired, they traveled all over the United States with their friends, and had the time of their lives! He loved the simple things…sitting outside or in the kitchen ready to listen and give advice. If his eyes were closed while talking to you, you knew to listen close because you were in for a treat!! A nugget of wisdom, that is what we will miss the most.

Sadly, on Friday, July 4, 2025, Lawrence Berry, age 84, transitioned from this life, with his family by his side, at Baptist Health Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Theresa Dixie Berry; daughter, Lisa Berry-Jackson; granddaughters, Courtney and Blake; great granddaughters, Bailey Rae' and Bentleigh Rae'; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, Carl, Sr. and Thelma Berry; one brother, John William Carl Berry; three sisters, Helen Mae Carolyn Louise Bonner, Martha Ann Clarkson, and Mary Gertrude Berry; and a cousin, who was like a brother, Charles Smizer.
