Lois Jean McDaniel Davis was born on February 14, 1954, to the late Rev. William and Mrs. Grayce McDaniel. She was the fifth of nine children born to their union.

Lois was a proud member of Shawnee High School’s graduating class of 1972. She continued her education at the University of Louisville, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in sociology. Her career included service with the United States Census Bureau in Jeffersonville, Indiana, and work as a social worker with Seven Counties, Inc.

Lois was a loving and devoted mother to her daughter, Nerissa Oreda McDaniel, and a doting grandmother to Darryl Franklin and Akiya Flynn. She was also a cherished aunt to her special nephew, Jace Jackson, whom she adored.

Lois was also a beloved sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Her life was marked by compassion and a generous willingness to help others.

In February 2000, she was united in holy matrimony to the late John Davis. John was the love of Lois’ life, and she faithfully and lovingly cared for him in sickness and in health.

Lois loved the Lord. She accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age at Bethel Temple Apostolic Church, where she remained throughout her youth. As an adult, she became a member of Moore Temple under the pastorate of the late Bishop A.T. Moore and Bishop John W. Fleming.

At Moore Temple, Lois served faithfully in Culinary Arts and was known for her excellence in food preparation. She also ministered at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, assisting in its Music and Culinary Arts departments.

Lois loved gospel music and worshiping and praising God through song. Andraé Crouch, Walter Hawkins, and Richard Smallwood were among her favorite musical artists. She was also a former member of the Edwards Singers, a local gospel group that performed throughout the Louisville community and across the United States.

Lois also enjoyed traveling and had a love for fashion. She was especially known for her beautiful hats, which coordinated with her many stunning outfits.

Early on Friday morning, October 9, 2026, our Almighty God saw fit to release Lois from her earthly suffering and called her home. Deeply loved by her family and friends, she leaves behind a lifetime of cherished and unforgettable memories.
