Lula "Lulu" Tinker
Visitation 12pm-2pm Saturday, November 5, 2022 at W.T. Shumake & Daughters Funeral Home 3815 Newburg Road. Funeral to follow at 2pm.

Lula “Lulu” Tinker was born in Louisville, Kentucky on January 19, 1942 to Mary E. Tinker. She spent her formative years in Louisville and in 1966, she was adopted by Mary Louise Young (affectionately known as “Big Momma”). Mary Young passed in 1987 and from then on Lula lived with Walter (Jr.) and Sylvia Pinchbeck (AKA “Little Momma”, Mary’s daughter, Lula’s sister). After Little Momma’s death, and a few years with Walter, Lula spent time living with Little Momma’s daughters Vanessa Goodwin, and Karen Bailey-Harley (who she lived with until her death).

Lula accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and became a member of Magazine Street SDA Church. She was active with the Dorcas Society at church and from there she spent time volunteering at YMCA and many other organizations. She was a longtime student at the Active Day Care Center. She retired on October 6, 2022.

Lula was so full of life and she loved to laugh, dance, spend time with family and friends, and serve God more than anything else. She had some challenges in life but she faced each one with a smile, and an overall positive outlook. One of her favorite things to say in conversation - especially towards the end of her life, is “Jesus is coming again - get ready!”

Lula passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, October 30, 2022 at the age of 80 years old. She is survived by Karen Bailey-Harley (Shane), Vanessa Goodwin (Cecil), Luthene Pinchbeck-Thomas, Lena Pinchbeck, Walter Pinchbeck III., Laura Pinchbeck, Walter Pinchbeck, Jr. and a host of other family, friends, and loved ones.
