Marion Nathaniel Brewer, Jr., was born to the late Georgia Brewer Pearson and Marion N. Brewer, Sr., in Louisville, Kentucky, on April 10, 1938. Early in his life, he developed a love for photography so much so that his nickname was “Picture Man”, and this was because he loved to take pictures. He could be found in parks, clubs, and on Fourth Street putting smiles on peoples’ faces as he took pictures of them. Besides photography, he also loved to cook and took pride in his chef preparations. Cooking also became his livelihood, and his last place to work as a chef was at the Masonic Temple where he retired.
He also had a flare for fashion. Oh, how he loved his clothes and was always sharp with his gold chains, rings, and goatee with a diamond in it. Besides fashion, he enjoyed playing tennis and sitting outside hanging with friends in Elliott Park, but most of all, he loved his family and being around them at family reunions where he would do all the cooking just to make sure everyone would come. Marion had a big heart towards everyone.
Marion Nathaniel Brewer, Jr., was preceded in death by his mother, Georgia Brewer Pearson; father, Marion N. Brewer, Sr.; brother, Charles Edward Brewer; sister, Joyce Brewer Whitten; and three of his own children, Vickie Renee Johnson, Marion “June-June” Fletcher, and David Brewer. Marion Nathaniel Brewer, Jr., was still working at the Salvation Army when he took ill and was trying his best to find a way to get back to work even while in the hospital because he loved his job so much, but that was not to be. He departed this earth on Sunday, November 13, 2022, and leaves to cherish their memories of him: daughter, Marian Watkins-Jackson (William); sons, Jerome Dean and Darnel Brewer; sister, Sara Garner; brother, Reginald Brewer; grandchildren, Jerrica Myles (Antonio), Jerry Watkins II, (Sabrina), Lakesha Saunders, Ivory Johnson, Tiesha Fletcher, Jasmarse, Charlton Monyeah Fletcher, Sheila Fletcher, Raymond Batts, Coretta Thomas, Corease Howard; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends
