Martha Louise Bailey was born February 24, 1946 to proud parents Arthur Greenville and Lillie Mae Spaulding, in Louisville, Kentucky. She was one of four children.

Being raised in Louisville, Martha was a student and a product of the Jefferson County Public School System. Martha was an active member of St. Stephen Baptist Church, where she used her God given talent and loaned her voice to the Temple Choir at her church. She also rendered her service in any capacity that she was needed at church.

Martha’s work history expanded to thirty years as an employee at General Electric, as a dedicated and reliable cafeteria assistant, where she remained working until her retirement.

“Shop ‘til you drop”, was a phrase that certainly described Martha. She loved to shop even if she didn’t need anything. She would find a reason to get out of the house and locate a mall or a store to do some damage to the wallet.

No grass grew under Martha’s feet. She attended many gatherings and events just to keep heselfr active and involved in what was going on. She was not one to sit still too long and become bored. Martha always found time to watch her sports. She was a diehard U of L football and basketball fan. She not only watched her local team, but she loved the Dallas Cowboys. When either of those teams were playing, she was glued to the television, and would watch the sports for hours on end – no interruptions were allowed.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Greenville and Lillie Mae Spaulding; husband, Fred Bailey; brothers, Leon Wilson and James Keelin; daughter, Michelle Walker; and son, Michael Walker.
