October 22, 1945 - December 31, 2024

Mary Lucille Moran Bridgewaters, 79, of Louisville, transitioned on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at Baptist Health.

Visitation 5pm - 7pm Friday, January 10, 2025 at Star Hope Baptist Church 5009 E. Indian Trail. Funeral 12 noon Saturday, January 11, 2025 at her church.

Mary L. Moran Bridgewaters, was born October 22, 1945 in Louisville, Kentucky (Jeffersontown) to the late Bessie Moran and Shelton King. At the age of two years old, her family moved to the Newburg area, where she planted roots and remained.

Mary or "Baby Sis", as she was affectionately called, raised her family in the Newburg area, and cultivated many long lasting friendships and acquaintances, that adored her. She knew everybody, and everybody knew her. She was a lady who tried to help anyone that she could.

Mary started her Christian journey at Forest Baptist Church, where she managed the Kitchen Committee. She later moved her membership and continued her Christian walk at Star Hope Baptist Church, serving on the Nurses Guild for three years. She was a faithful member at Star Hope until her health began to decline.

Baby Sis was employed at Jefferson County Public Schools for thirty plus years as a dedicated Bus Driver, until her retirement. She would often reminisce about the good memories she created with her bus driver family.
Mary was an entertainer at heart. She enjoyed being around people and cooking, so that was the perfect combination for her being an excellent hostess at events at her home. She got pleasure out of preparing for card parties, fish fries, Derby Brunches, Cardinal parties and her own birthday parties, all at her house. She would have "Just Because Gatherings", and you better believe everyone wanted to be invited. Her culinary skills were excellent.

Anytime Mary was asked to cater an event, provide food for wedding receptions, family reunions or cook at church (Forest Baptist), she was ready and able to honor the request. Her secret punch, chicken salad, and homemade mints and bourbon balls were always a hit and often requested.
Mary was known for her flair of fashion. She could coordinate her outfits and they would look like she bought them at Saks Fifth Avenue, but she would willingly tell you, they were purchased at a Thrift Store, or she would say "You know where I shop". Baby Sis loved her family. She stayed connected with her siblings, children and grandchildren. She always instilled family values and pearls of wisdom in her family. Her favorite sayings were, "Manners are free", "If you want it, get it", and "You only live once". Mary was "over the moon" when she became "Nana" (grandmother) to her grandchildren, and to their friends, as well. She sacrificed and did everything for her grandchildren. They could count on "Nana" to show up, and be present at every event they were participating in.
Mary was preceded in death by her dearly missed son, Michael; two brothers; four sisters, and her beloved Pug "M & M" (her dog).

Sadly, on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, Mary L. Moran Bridgewaters, peacefully transitioned, leaving a void for a life well lived. She leaves to cherish her memories, three daughters, Deborah Moran, Rhonda Garrison (Tony), LeeAndra Bridgewaters; four grandchildren, Brea, Brandon, Ravyn (Anthony), Maurice; a great granddaughter, Azariah; one sister, Jenny; one sister in-law, Garnetta, a special friend, Danny; nephew, Rod (who cared for her); and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
