W.T. Shumake & Daughters

Michael Shawn Floyd, Sr., 58, died on Monday, March 27, 2023 at home.

Memorial Service was held on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at 6pm at W. T. Shumake & Daughters Funeral Home 3815 Newburg Road.

Michael Shawn Floyd was born to the late Havana Payne Floyd and the late Sylvester Mack on March 15, 1965 in Louisville, Kentucky. He graduated from Atherton High School. Following high school, he joined the Army Reserve. He worked at various jobs from CNA at Baptist East to Security in his later years.

Michael was an avid basketball fan who loved the University of Louisville Cardinals! In his 20's Michael had the opportunity to travel like he won the lottery! He developed a special love for traveling and visited places like Bermuda, NYC, and Dayton Beach, just to name a few.

Michael was a reserved but stern man. He loved his family and was proud of his children. He cherished his little sister Keisa and the relationship he had with his niece and nephews.

While in a peaceful slumber, God called Michael home on March 27, 2023. He was preceded in death by his mother, Havana Floyd, father Sylvester Mack and brother Daryl Floyd. He leaves to cherish in his memory, his daughter Ciera Floyd; son, Michael Shawn Floyd, Jr; sister Nekeisa Floyd; aunts Anna Bartlett, Vivian Lacy and Virginia Skinner; niece Diamond; nephews Keion, Rashad, Darrell, Makhi and Ace; a host of cousins, extended family and friends.
