Naomi Hurt Hundley, 89, of Louisville transitioned on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 surrounded by family

Visitation 10-11am Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at W.T. Shumake & Daughters Funeral Home 3815 Newburg Road. Funeral to follow at 11.

Naomi Hurt Hundley was born January 12, 1936 in Shelby County, Kentucky, to proud parents Alex and Anna Chambers. She was one of seven children, and was blessed to be raised with three "bonus" siblings.

"Noma", as she was affectionately called by her family, joined church at an early age. She was a long time active and very involved member of Hobbs Chapel Church in Anchorage, Kentucky. Whatever needed to be done in the church, Naomi could be depended on to step up to the plate and meet the needs of the church. When her health began to decline, it didn’t deter her from continuing to worship and give God the praise. She would tune into various church services on line.

Education was important to Naomi's family. Her early education started in Shelby County, Kentucky, and continued when she attended Lincoln Institute in Shelbyville (which is now called Whitney M. Young Job Corps).

Naomi was full of jokes and antics that kept everyone around her filled with a hearty laugh, happiness, and waiting for the next surprise she had for them. She was the life of the party, the center of attention, even though that was not what she intended to be. Everyone enjoyed being around her positive spirit.

Shopping and yard sales was an enjoyable hobby for Naomi. She could find stuff "goodies" at yard sales that you wouldn’t find anywhere else. As the saying goes, "One person's junk is another person's treasure." She also found enjoyment in watching wrestling - her favorite pastime.

Naomi was a woman of many skills. She was an excellent cook, and would often honor requests from family and friends, to make her mouth-watering Corn Pudding, and her famous Stewed Tomatoes.

Caring for others and doing for others was a passion for Naomi. That passion carried over into her employment as a CNA (Certified Nurse Assistant) at various locations. Her compassion for others was exemplified when she was a private assistant for many people. Serving others was in her blood.

Sadly, and with heavy hearts, Naomi Hurt Hundley, was fitted with her wings and ascended to Heaven on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 in Louisville, Kentucky. She leaves to cherish her memories, one daughter Vanessa Weatherford, and one son Glenn Hurt; 21 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 12 great great grandchildren; sisters, Gladys Chambers, Betty Harris; one brother Perry Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Naomi was preceded in death by her parents; children, Sharon Daniels, James, Jeanette Cochran, Edward Ronnie Hurt, Deborah Hurt, Phillip Hurt; and siblings.
