Nola Mae Massey Foster, age 73, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Thursday November 21, 2024 .

Visitation 12pm- 1pm Monday, December 2, 2024 at Burnette Avenue Baptist Church 6800 Hurstbourne Pkwy. Funeral to follow at 1pm.

Nola Mae Massey Foster was born on January 2, 1951, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Mary Bell Massey. She was a graduate from Ahrens High School. Nola spent over 50 years as a waitress at Big Springs Country Club, where she became a beloved figure to all who knew her. Her kindness, infectious smile, and vibrant personality made her a cherished presence, and she touched countless lives with her warmth and generosity.

Nola was a woman of great strength and heart. A breast cancer survivor and amputee… She was known for her outspokenness and her ability to help others, always offering a hand or a kind word when someone needed it. Her love for her family was immeasurable, and she was dedicated to supporting them in any way she could. Nola was especially fond of sports, with a deep love for the San Francisco 49ers and the Louisville Cardinals. She also found joy in reading and watching The Young and the Restless, which she enjoyed in her leisure time.

On Thursday, November 21, 2024, Nola Mae Massey Foster departed this life. She is survived by her devoted husband of 45 years, Jerry Foster; her daughters Sherry Gaines, Alonna Wade her sons, Kevin and Eshawn Gaines; and her grandchildren: Shante’ Smith (Shelby), Sherrice Gaines, Ashley Petty, Duwan Petty, Teirra Gaines, Jasmine Howard, Alexis Bolds, Alaya Bolds, Casey Matherly, Latrice Miles, Al’leasha Petty as well as 11 great-grandchildren. Her sister Charlotte Massey and only niece Davonne Massey-Hill (Anthony) a host of other family and friends She is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Bell Massey, her father Haywood Massey, brother Haywood Baker (Sonny), and her daughter Shana Gaines.

Nola’s legacy of love, laughter, and service to others will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her family and friends will remember her not only for the joy she brought into their lives but also for the kindness she extended to everyone she met. She will be dearly missed, but her spirit will remain with us forever.
