Oliver Wendell Pearson, Jr., was born in Louisville, Kentucky on October 21, 1956, to the proud parents of Oliver Wendell Pearson, Sr. and Alberta Taylor Pearson. Oliver and his siblings, Sand and Lamont’s early childhood was spent mostly with their grandmother, Alberta Houston Taylor. They grew up alongside their aunts and uncles and were all very close, just like brothers and sisters. Oliver was affectionately called “Main” by family and close friends. He attended John Marshall Elementary School and duPont Manual High School.

His Christian journey started at an early age when he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was baptized at the Kingdom Land Baptist Church. In later years, Oliver joined the First Peter Baptist Church under Rev. H. G. Hollins.

Main grew up in the Park Hill and Parkland neighborhoods where he met many people who would become lifelong friends. He always had a listening ear, a word of advice and a giving heart.

In 1990, Oliver was united in Holy Matrimony to Tracey Allen. Oliver was a hard worker. His employment history included a business with his father and two brothers; the Lexington Country Place; the U of L Hospital, and Jan Pro Cleaning System of Kentucky.

Main enjoyed life. He was an avid sports fan. His favorite teams were the Lakers, Pittsburgh Steelers, Miami Dolphins and he went back and forth cheering for the University of Louisville Cardinals and the University of Kentucky Wildcats.

Blessed beyond measure with a loving family and an extended family of friends, Main loved and that same love was returned 10-fold.He received so much joy by being “Uncle Main” to his many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was truly a wonderful person, devoted father, grandfather, beloved brother, adored nephew/uncle, faithful friend, and adopted “Paw Paw” to Jermaine Simmons, and Kay’don Jumper. As his health declined, he was not able to go out to church, but God had a ram in the bush named Rev. Ronnie Todd who came to the Will E. Seay Apartment complex to provide church services for the tenants.

On Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at 6:05 A.M. Oliver Wendell Pearson, Jr. peacefully departed this life. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandmother, stepfather Joseph Paschel; sisters Sandra A. Graham and Jaqueline Paschel; niece Erika Paschel.
