Randall Dorsey Butler was born on December 21, 1948, in Roxie, Mississippi, to Marie (Mason) and Simmie Butler Sr. He was the second oldest of their children. In 1964, Randall and his family moved to Bloomfield, Kentucky, before settling in Louisville, where he graduated from Seneca High School.

Randall’s career was multifaceted. He worked as a store manager, marketing editor, advertiser, and showcase decorator at H&S Hardware on Preston Highway, and he also assisted in his father’s business, Butler’s & Sons Electric Company. Additionally, Randall worked as a factory worker at General Electric Company for over 37 years, retiring in 2004 as a forklift driver.
Outside of his work life, Randall was passionate about many things. He enjoyed traveling, especially visiting oceans and beaches, and he had a love for drawing. Randall volunteered at the USN Reserve Center in Louisville, Kentucky, and once dreamed of becoming an architect. He also found joy in watching his favorite sports teams, including the University of Louisville Men’s Basketball and Football teams and the NFL's Baltimore Ravens.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 26 years, Diann Mukes Betts; his son, Robert Antonio Butler; his daughter, Dawn Butler-Okyere; his grandchildren, Jovanna and Jadon Okyere, Jericho and Jerimiah Kitsi; his brothers, Glen Butler (Yvette), Simmie Butler Jr. (Gayle), Bobby Butler, and Mason Butler; as well as his stepchildren, Rikci Betts Weaver, Karen Montgomery (Demetrius), and Richard Betts III (Richelle). Randall also leaves behind his step-grandchildren: Diandra, Marla & Danielle Betts, Alexis & Karina Weaver, and Shanyah & Ocean Betts and a host of step great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his extended family, including nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

The Butler family deeply appreciates your support and is grateful for all those who have shared in this time of remembrance.
