Rolidia Jean Thompson was born on the first day of January, 1957 to Marjorie Bermenda Brown Thompson and Joseph Clarence Thompson. She was their first born; however, five more sibling followed her which included three more girls and two boys, and that made a grand total of six children in the Thompson family. Since Rolidia’s mother was nicknamed “Skippy”, the children were called “The Skippy 6”. Her parents made sure their children attended church, so It was no surprise when she accepted Jesus Christ into her life at an early age and became a member of First Virginia Avenue Missionary Baptist Chur under the pastorage of Rev. Charles Duncan. “Jean”, as she was fondly called by family and friends, lead a normal childhood and adolescent life. She was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School.

She was a member of “Just Because Social Club” and lovingly called them, “My girls”. They enjoyed traveling together and doing things “just because”. As a die-hard U of L cardinal fan, she could be found tailgating at the fairgrounds during football season and watching the men’s basketball games with family and friends during basketball season. Although she enjoyed life and had fun, Rolidia provided for herself by working as a housekeeper at the Marriott Hotel where she was employed for most of her working life.

Jean was a straightforward woman who told it like it was with no sugar coating. Her nuggets of wisdom were accepted and became beneficial to some who are traveling their own life’s journey. She will be remembered. Sadly, on Friday, June 17, 2022, Rolidia Jean Thompson departed this life. She leaves to celebrater her life and cherish her memory of her; sons, Quenton D.
