Rosalind Evans Walton, 74, of Louisville, transitioned on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026
Memorial Service 12:00pm Friday, April 10, 2026 at W.T. Shumake & Daughters Funeral Home 3815 Newburg Road.
Rosalind Evans Walton was born on August 4, 1951, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Mary Unseld. She was educated in the Jefferson County Public School system and spent most of her life in the Newburg neighborhood, where she was a familiar and caring presence in the community. For many years, Rosalind devoted herself to caring for children in the area, touching countless lives with her kindness and patience.
Rosalind began her Christian journey at King Solomon Baptist Church, where her faith continued to grow throughout her life. She had a deep love for gospel music, as well as music from the 1960s and 1970s.
Known for her gift in the kitchen, Rosalind could make even the simplest meal taste extraordinary.
Kind, sweet, funny, and laid-back are just a few of the words loved ones use to describe Rosalind. She was also honest and direct, never hesitating to offer wisdom when it was needed. She lived by the principle: “If you say you’re going to do something, then do it.”
Despite life’s challenges, Rosalind found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed watching CSI, her favorite television show, while sipping on a Coke and enjoying Lay’s Sour Cream & Onion potato chips. She especially cherished moments spent with family—whether being warmly embraced as family by her caregiver, Nicole, or sharing laughter and love with her grandchildren.
On Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026, Rosalind Evans Walton peacefully departed this life.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her son, Reginald Holden, grandson Antonio Miles; her great grandson, Antonio Miles, Jr.; her brother, Dan Holden; her sisters, Barbara Green, Philodendron Green and Tandy Beaumont; and a host of extended family members, neighbors, and dear friends.
