Steven L. Wilson, 62, of Louisville departed this life on Monday, August 14, 2023.

Visitation 10-11 Saturday, August 19, 2023 at W.T. Shumake & Daughters Funeral Home 3815 Newburg Road. Funeral to follow at 11am. Burial Calvary Cemetery.

On December 21, 1960 in Detroit, Michigan Steven L. Wilson was welcomed with love, joy and praise to the union of John D. Wilson and Evelyn Brown Wilson. Steve was the answer to his mother and father’s prayers. As a child Steve was showered with love from his mother, father, brother, Michael Wilson, and his grandmother Mrs. Charlotte Brown.

At an early age, the unexpected death of his mother brought Steve to Louisville, Kentucky to live with his aunt, Mary Bell, who raised him as her own. Instead of one sibling, Steve now had a household full.

Steve began his formal education in Louisville. He attended St. Bartholomew and later attended St. Xavier High School. Steve returned to Detroit, Michigan and completed his last two years of high school at St. Martin De Porres High School. After returning to Louisville with his father, Steve was employed at Independent Industries until it closed.

Steve accepted all of life’s challenges without complaining. The most you would ever hear him say was, “If it ain’t one thing, it’s another.” Steve took pleasure in the simple things of life. He loved family gatherings, travel, and going to the gym. Steve and his father united with St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic Church. Steve was always ready to go to church and never declined an opportunity to attend Mass.

On August 14, 2023, Steve peacefully went to sleep. His Heavenly Father knew that he needed to rest.

Steve was preceded in death by his mother and father. He will be dearly missed by his brother, Michael Wilson (Paula), his unofficial siblings Diane Evans, Robert Bell, Margaret Hamilton, and Carletta Bell. He will also be missed by his niece, Victoria Wilson and nephew, Joshua Wilson, and many other cousins and friends.
