Travis Tyrone Shelby Higgins Stubbins, 58, of Louisville transitioned on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.

Visitation 11-12 Saturday, February 22, 2025 at W.T. Shumake & Daughters Funeral Home 3815 Newburg Road Memorial Service to follow at 12 noon.
Travis Tyrone Shelby Higgins Stubbins was born October 28, 1966 in Louisville, Kentucky to Jaqueline Shelby Stubbins, and the late Jack C. Higgins. He was also blessed to have been loved by Julius M. Stubbins (called Pops, Dad, Father) and his Step Mother, Chalonda Stubbins.

At an early age, Travis accepted Christ, and then at the age of about 12 years old, was baptized again. Travis, also affectionately called "Bubba", was a graduate of Moore High School in Louisville, Kentucky.

Travis had an impeccable sense of humor. He loved to clown around and play jokes, especially on his sister, Carolyn Thyais, who was referred to as "Beady Bead" and "Louie the Light Bulb". Carolyn was not the only one that Travis pranked and played jokes on. His joking was extended to other family members: his momma, pops, Jacquelyn and Eryn (his nieces), and his daughters, LesLee, Kelsie and Ola Shelby. Travis made himself the center of attention, and enjoyed being with family. He was the "Entertainer".

Travis' favorite food was Pizza. He was asked to leave many of the "all you can eat" restaurants, especially Guys Pizza on Poplar Level Road and Mr. Gatti's. As the story goes, when Travis started driving, he would get up early on Saturday mornings and go to Shoney's to get a "to go" breakfast for his family.
One day an employee at Shoney's told Travis that the top on the "to go" box had to be closed before he could pay for the purchase. So, Travis went back to refill his box with food and used toothpicks to hold the box closed. (How clever that was!). But, the next time he went to Shoney's to do the same thing, Shoney's had smaller boxes and NO toothpicks. (LOL) Shoney's had gotten wise to what Travis was doing and out smarted him.
Travis stayed in trouble and was always doing something. It seems that trouble followed Travis, and perhaps, "Trouble" should have been his middle name.

Travis' occupational path was "Jack of all trades" and master of many. For relaxation and entertainment, he enjoyed fishing, deer hunting and cooking. In fact, he taught some of his cousins the art of filleting fish and making deer jerky. Travis had a special love for his dogs. Buddy was his first childhood dog that he adored. Then came Acid, a Pitbull, that he trained; and finally there came along Jaws, a Boxer, that he taught how to box. Travis was a patient person, when it came to training his dogs to do his commands.

Sadly, on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, Travis went to his Heavenly home. He leaves to cherish his memories, his mother, Jacqueline Shelby Stubbins; father, Julius M. Stubbins; and Stepmother, Chalonda Stubbins; three daughters, LesLee Stubbins, Kelsie Eleby, Ola Shelby Stubbins; three grandchildren, Roxie Stubbins, Raiden Ray and Rowan Stubbins; sisters, Sylvia Marie Higgins and Carolyn Thyais Stubbins; stepbrothers, Damon Harley and Syverek Johnson; other family members, and friends.

Travis was preceded in death by his grandparents, Rev. Frank John Lee Shelby, Sr. and Ola G. Valentine Shelby; Adolph M. Stubbins and Lora M. Stubbins; cousins, Roy T. Higgins, Sr. and Marie Combs-Higgins; cousin/brother, Greg L. Majors; aunt and god mother, Carolyn L. Shelby Perry; uncle, and god father, Rev. Frank John Lee Shelby, Jr. (Binky); grandson, Samuel Ryder Ray; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
