Vernon Lee Wells was born Sunday, June 30, 1951, to Frank Moore and Anna Elizabeth Wells in Louisville, Kentucky. He was the second child born of ten children.
Vernon was educated in the Jefferson County Public School System.
At an early age, Vernon accepted Christ, and later joined Little Flock Baptist Church in 2006. He was baptized and embraced his new life as one of God’s Disciples. He loved his church family. He was a father, brother, uncle, friend, and most importantly a soldier in the army of our Lord.
Vernon enjoyed life and family, and as the saying goes, “he didn’t let any green grass grow under his feet.” He was an avid sports fan, with his favorite team being the Louisville Cardinals. He also had a love for music, and often thought of himself as one of the Temptations.
Vernon was gainfully employed as a shipping and receiving manager, and took his job seriously. He enjoyed his job, and it showed through his dedication and hard work.
In 2020, Vernon was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure, and end stage Kidney Disease. These two conditions did not keep Vernon from trusting and believing in God’s word. He often stated that he was going to fight to stay here with his family, but God knew best.
Vernon Lee Wells departed this life on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at 4:00 P.M. to be with his Heavenly Father. God said, “Well done my good and faithful servant, now it’s time to come home.”
Vernon leaves to cherish his memories and love, his children, that he loved with all his heart; Chanel Wells, Kim Scott, Armani Wilson, Rodney Murphy (Erika), Lonnie Murphy and Reggie Murphy; seventeen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; five surviving siblings, Marion Moore, Mary Buckman, Rose Smith (Walter), Ricky Moore (Vanessa), Wanda Moore; and a host of other relatives and friends.
