Visitation Saturday October 15, 2022 10:30am - 12:30pm at W.T. Shumake & Daughters Funeral Home 3815 Newburg Road . Funeral to follow at 12:30pm. Burial Petersburg-Newburg Cemetery.



Veronica Denise Bowens Kimble Walls was born on November 25, 1953 in Bardstown, Kentucky to Ray Bowens and Wilhemina Bishop Bowens. She was the 2nd oldest of their four children. Shortly thereafter, the family moved to Taylorsville, Kentucky. In 1963 the family relocated to Louisville, Kentucky in the Newburg community.

At an early age, Veronica gave her life to Christ and united with Forest Tabernacle Baptist Church. She attended regularly and served on the usher board.

Educated in the Jefferson County Public School, Veronica played the Claranet in the Thomas Jefferson High School band. She could also play the piano. After graduation, Veronica worked for General Electric. When GE had a massive layoff including Veronica, she decided to go into a different direction. She became a medical occupational therapist technician working in 4 nursing homes.

Veronica, also affectionately called Ronnie and Sister, was a fun-loving person who was outspoken, enjoyed traveling, spending time with family and friends, playing cards, and the slots at various Casinos. She was a Diva who loved clothes, shoes, purses, and jewelry. Her wardrobe was stylish with everything matching. When it came to sports, she was a Dallas Cowboys fan and of course, a U of L fan being from Louisville. She was an excellent cook and loved preparing family dinners. You could count on her greens and sweet potatoes to be in great demand. In her quiet time, she listened to R&B from the 60’s 70’s and 80’s.

In 1999, Carlton A. Walls and Veronica Kimble were united in holy matrimony. Together they enjoyed their blended family and constantly planned family gatherings.

On Friday, October 7, 2022, Veronica Denise Bowens Kimble Walls departed this life. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Carlton; children, Andre Bowens and Tomeka Kimble; siblings, Anthony “Slick” Bowens, Michelle Bowens, and Ray Bowens, Jr.; stepchildren, Tawana Mullins and Tachisha Walls; nine grandchildren La’Drea Curry, Sha’Drea Montgomery, Andre Bowens, Lexus Kimble, Tionne Kimble, LeQuan Mullins, Vanessya Kelly, Antonio Kelly, and Deysha Holland; and eight great grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Cecil Bowen, mother-in-law, Jean Henderson; and granddaughter, Shayla Bowens.
