William Reggie Pippin was born to the union of William Lytton Pippin and Harriet Louise Johnson Pippin on September 27, 1948, in Washington, DC. He professed and accepted Christ at his grandfather’s church, Main Street Baptist Church in Lexington, Kentucky, pastored by Reverend Reggie H. Johnson.

He attended Memphis City Schools, including, Walker Elementary, Porter Jr. High and graduated from Booker T. Washington High in 1966, where he was a member of the football team, track and field team, and BTW Warrior Band, where he played the bass drum. After high school, Reggie attended Kentucky State College, but after a year he was drafted into the United States Army, where he was stationed in Vietnam. During his active deployment he earned a Bronze Medal for meritorious achievement during combat. After being honorably discharged, he returned to Kentucky State College and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics.

While residing in Frankfort, Kentucky in the seventies, he opened, Reggie's Deli, not far from KSC campus. And over the years, Reggie continued to work in food services. Even during his illness, he would push himself to work because, if you knew him, Reggie was not the kind of person to sit around and do nothing. This tenacity propelled his most rewarding hobby, a self-taught horticulturist. He was extremely proud of his massive plant collection and marveled in the beauty of God’s creation.

Reggie had three great loves – his lovely wife Vickie, whom he loved deeply. They were committed to each other in a special way and would have celebrated 36 years of marriage in August. He loved his two favorite teams, the Pittsburgh Steelers and The University of Alabama. ROLL TIDE!!!!!!!! And he loved being a Pippin. Every Sunday on the family Zoom call he would entertain everyone, young and old, with funny stories from many, many life experiences.

Reggie was preceded in death by his parents William and Harriet Pippin, his son, Bryan Anderson Pippin, and bonus granddaughter Christy Hampton.

On Saturday, March 15, 2025, William Reggie Pippin departed this life. His fond memories will live on through his wife Vickie King Pippin. He leaves to celebrate his life through his daughter Trina Yvette Pippin-Dones (Danielle), bonus daughter Jocelyn King Randolph and his stepson Corwyn Hodge (Tracey). His sisters, Bonnie Mills (Larry), Thomascine Pippin (Charles) and Johnsie D. Pippin. His granddaughters Bryonna E. Pippin, Tenia Davis, Asjah V. Pippin, and Abrielle Hodge.
