Obituary

Wilma Jean Childress Shamble was born in Pembroke, KY, on August 4, 1946, to her parents James and Lillie May Childress. She lived in KY most of her life but spent summers in Chicago as a young lady and spent some time living in WA state. She was a lifelong believer in Jesus Christ and loved sharing His word with everyone she knew.

Wilma greeted everyone with warmth and love, and spent her entire life as a devoted mom, grandma, and caregiver to know her is to know love. Wilma was a member of The Believers Church and served as a volunteer there for many years. She loved cooking, fishing, and playing bingo with her friends and family. She also loved to play card games including Spades and Crazy 8's.

Sadly, Wilma was called home on September 20, 2020. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Betina Childress and 8 of her siblings. She was survived by her other 4 children: Donald Childress, David Childress, Darrell Childress, and her daughter and best friend Telenee Childress, as well as her 17 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and brother Louis Childress. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
