Born on December 19, 1956 to the late Mary Juanita Holt and Edward Leo Holt, Yolanda carried their spirit and values throughout her life. Yolanda graduated from Central High School and furthered her education and became a teacher with JCPS. Yolanda (Yonnie) was also preceded in death by her beloved sisters, Ida Charlene Rivers and Emma Jean Garrison: her cherished husband, Maurice Kirby, with whom she shared a deep and enduring bond. She leaves a brother named Michael Holt(Wanda).
Yolanda (Yonnie) was the proud and nurturing mother of five children: Monika Holt-Garnett (Robert), Shiffivon Holt-Todd (Stacy), Maurice Kirby Jr.(Byonicka), Myanna Holt, and Marco Kirby. (Bonus daughter’s Katina Carter and Lakrisha Harris). Her life’s greatest joy came from her role as a mother and grandmother, and she poured her heart into raising and supporting her family every step of the way.
She was blessed with ten grandchildren: Steven Todd Jr., Zachary Oliver III ( Abigail), Devonta Shaw, Stacy Yolanda Todd (affectionately known as Sugar Momma) (Jamon), Maleah Kirby, Maurice Kirby III, Messiah Kirby, Marco Kirby, LeVeon Bell and Melody Kirby. Her love extended to her great-grandchild, Ivory Oliver, who brought a special sparkle to her later years with Arena A’riyah, Ma’kyha, A’nylah, Amira, Da’Vinchi.
Yolanda (Yonnie) was a woman who loved deeply and unconditionally. She made everyone feel welcome in her presence, often putting others before herself. Her home was a place of comfort, and a daycare for all the children family or not, her smile a source of peace, and her spirit a light that touched everyone she met.
She will be remembered not only for the love she gave but for the strength she showed through life’s many challenges. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Though she is no longer with us in body, Yolanda’s love, laughter, and legacy will remain alive forever.
